2013

On 09 September 2013, the South African Embassy in Lisbon hosted a group of children from the Cape Verdean Community. The purpose of the visit was to provide the children aged from 5-16 information on South Africa and the role of an Embassy through a power point presentation and was followed by a small Q&A session with the group. Ambassador Keitumetse Matthews addressed and welcomed the group to the Embassy and stated that it was important for young and inquisitive minds to follow the principles set out by former President Mandela and to make everyday a Mandela Day. Ambassador Matthews stated that ‘children should be active in their communities and interact with those less fortunate.’ The presentation was followed by some light refreshments where the embassy officials had the opportunity to interact with the children and the teachers.
