NELSON MANDELA DAY 2026: EMBASSY PARTNERS WITH IAC
INTERNATIONAL NELSON MANDELA DAY 2026 is around the corner and this year the Embassy is partnering with the Institute for the Support of Children (Instituto de Apoio à Criança - IAC), an organisation founded in 1983 by former first lady, Manuela Ramalho Eanes. This institute does very important work in the defence of children's rights . To support the IAC's projects, during the months of July the Embassy will be collecting hygiene products and non-perishable food items to distribute to children in need.
You can find a list of suggested items below. These can be left in the public area of the Embassy, Monday through Friday, from 9H00 to 12H00. Should you prefer to donate school supplies, such as notebooks, pens, pencils, etc, this will also be appreciated.
Hygiene Products for Various Ages:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Bath gel
- Soap
- Moisturiser
- Feminine / Intimate Hygiene products
Non-Perishable Food Items:
- Milk
- Breakfast cereal
- Biscuits
- Rice / Pasta
- Tinned goods (tuna, sausages, beans, corn, etc)
