AMBASSADOR PAYS TRIBUTE TO SA SERVICEMEN IN LORIGA

Ambassador Gaoretelelwe paid a visit to the town of Loriga on 11 March 2022 to inspect and lay wreaths at the grave sites of four South African airmen.  The four were killed in WW2 when their Hudson bomber plane crashed in bad weather in 1944, into the Penha do Gato / Serra da Estrela mountains.  The Ambassador met with the President of the Parish Council of Loriga, Mr José Manuel Almeida Pinto, and together they inspected the grave sites and lay wreaths in honour of their memory.
