The South African Embassy participated again in the annual Portugal Exportador 2014

The South African Embassy participated again in the annual Portugal Exportador 2014 which took place in the Lisbon Congress Centre in Lisbon on 19 November 2014 . Organized by AIP (Portuguese Manufacturers Association) and sponsored by Novo Banco bank, the event was widely covered by all the Portuguese economic media and was well attended by business representatives. The interaction with AIP at this event forms part of the Embassy’s strategy to promote the trade relations between the South Africa and Portugal as a stepping stone to future Portuguese investment in South Africa

South Africa supports 2014 Diplomatic Bazaar

It was once again a pleasure to be a part of the Diplomatic Bazaar, held on 21 and 22 November 2014, the proceeds of which will go to institutions supporting the homeless and people in need.   The Embassy would like to thank the partners who helped to make its participation in the Bazaar once again a success, namely Joaquim and Rosário Alfaiate with their popular graphite statuettes and stone necklaces, the GB Store in Cascais for providing a selection of South African treats, including biltong (www.gbstore.org) and to Bill Godley of Prime Wines, who came from the Algarve with a fine selection of South African wines (www.primewine.eu.com). And again thank you to all of the members of the Associação do Bazar do Corpo Diplomático who always do a great job in organizing the Bazaar.  Your hard work and dedication are always appreciated!

The debut of the adaptation to theatre of Breyten Breytenbach’s book, The True Confessions of an Albino Terrorist, filled up the Teatro do Bairro on 2 September 2014.  South African author Breyten Breytenbach was himself in the audience as the seven actors from the Teatro Griot performed in this first-ever adaptation of the book, staged by veteran theatre director, Rogério de Carvalho.  Included within the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Próximo Futuro programme, it was an honour for the Embassy to associate itself with this world debut, within the scope of the commemorations of South Africa’s 20 Years of Democracy.  Congratulations to the Teatro Griot for a fine performance!
